OT but related;

i just discovered why live 5 wasn't allowing me to assign QWERTY keys to controls lately; the Computer Midi Keyboard Switch (top right, next to the Key Map Mode Switch) was lit. didn't know it was a toggle.

you mentioned 2 usb devices. don't you have 2 usb ports on your computer. if you do get a usb hub, keep in mind they are small, light and gangily. it was difficult to get mine to fit well into my hardware setup. i suppose if i ever need to use it again, i would velcro it so it could "stick" to somet...
