forge,
the API stays the same. The only thing that can really bite them is endian changes and altivec stuff.

I hardly dare to ask, but does Rosetta also deal with drivers/kernel modules, or does it just take care of applications? I just hope that the manufacturers won't leave too much hardware behind because of drivers issues during the transition from ppc to x86 ...

milfbait, your post makes me all nostalgic about my old PC and makes me wanna defend Windows 98, which is a pretty strange feeling for a Mac user ;) Anyway, I built that PC myself years ago, Celeron 300 overclocked to 450MHz, used it heavily during the following years for gaming, graphics, music, pr...

stay away from CRTs with your guitar and see if any other devices in your room cause the humming in your guitar. I think my quieter guitar did pickup something from my PSA-1 preamp that was sitting on my desk. The cheaper noisier guitar did indeed stop humming when I put my right hand on its strings.

have to chime in here, the traveller really rocks. pretty lightweight (but not really small), bus powered, phantom power seperately switchable for the 4 XLR inputs, the cue mix console and the routing possibilities rock, drivers seem to be pretty cpu efficient and rock solid. I recorded 6 or 8 track...

what sound are you after? if you've got a good bass it might be sufficient to just plug it into your soundcard and record/postprocess it. Otherwise, why not go with the NI stuff for the bass as well? At home, I use my J-Station for both guitars and bass. It might not be the mighty monster-fridge-siz...

hmm, Thomann sells Bass guitars from 88EUR upwards, so I'd say don't bother, get yourself a cheap bass that won't get out of tune the second you look at it and play it on the real thing. Its more fun as well :)

seems to work flawlessly with my traveler. optical adat syncs easily and you're supposed to use the behringer device as master. reviews generally seem favorable for the ada8000 unit if you google a bit.
