Your all speaking lots of sense. I guess the industry will catch up with the consumer at some point. In the meantime I'll just buy the download and do without those.

Buying Live Suite as a download

Just wondering about this. It seems that you don't get EIC and Session Drums if you download. I'm trying to be eco-friendly here and not involve planes and paper, etc, but it seems I'm being punished for it. Are those two worth having and if so why aren't they provided with the download version?

Ok. The old laptop is running Live Lite 6 M-Audio enhanced edition while the new one is updated to Live Lite 7 M-Audio enhanced edition. Does anyone know if they disabled the ability to send midi in the newer version? If so that sucks ass. Anyways, I should be getting the entire Suite later this wee...

Yo. I agree with those saying don't expect a job in the music industry just because you have done a course, but would reccomend it if you want to pursue music making seriously as a hobby. i bought ableton live and started to teach myself but was finding endless reading of forum threads and searchin...

No, I haven't installed any drivers on my new laptop. I don't remember doing that on the old one either. I remember being delighted to find it all just seemed to work itself out. But you reckon I need to do that now do you? It's recognising the synth alright but only as a midi in device.

I still have the old laptop here and it still plays the synth no problem. It's Live Lite 7 M-Audio edition. Does that support Midi Out? If not then I had a good bug on the old laptop and the new one is unfortunately working perfectly :(

Can't send Midi To my synth

Hey there, I was using Live LE to play my external synth on my last laptop and I have just bought a new laptop and installed Live LE on it. The problem is now Live will only recognise the synth as a Midi In but wont show it as an option in the Midi To section of my Midi track. When I go into the pre...

If anyone is interested, the original mixes were done for mono. There wasn't really a market for stereo in the UK at the time so the Beatles weren't interested in it as a format. They didn't bother hanging around the studio once the mono mixes were finished so when the stereo mixes were being done f...

+1 Anyone seriously interested in how great records were made back then should own this book. Worth it for the (where possible actual size) photos alone.

Moving Computer

If I get the Ableton Suite for the computer I'm using at the moment and then switch to a new laptop later in the year, how do I go about moving the software and files onto the new computer?

The one's that go on the mic usually just come with the mic and wont stop plosives("p" and "b" sounds that cause audible bumps). You'll need the "invisible wall" type to sort those out and as Emissary says above, stocking stretched over metal coat-hanger does the job we...

Thanks very much for the info. I use lots of outboard (synths, EQ, Reverb) so I mainly intend using Live as a recorder and arranger. Won't be using many plugins but I do want to be able to manipulate clips on the fly. I guess I'll go with the 1G of RAM and see how I go. Thanks for the advice.

iBook running Live, advice please

Greetings all, just wondering if anyone could help me out here. I have an iBook G4 and have messed around with Live 7LE but I'd like to go the whole hog now and get set up with an interface and controller and Live 7 full version. Is the iBook suitable and should I go the external hard-drive route or...
