Re: Advice on mic purchase for Push 3 recording ?

Yeah, this question kicks around when folks report low output levels or things not matching impedance with their instrument input. You might want to consider something that takes an AA battery, or some form of self-power like an old Nakamichi...

Re: Using Push 3 to record a vocal mic signal

tell me, now that you have the phantom power, do you see a meter, however weak, if you choose the line or instrument setting? You can add up to +20db of digital gain to an input signal, which won't add to the noise profile of the preamp, so you might want to explore backing off on your input gain se...

Re: Max For Live Packs that don't work on standalone

I didn’t try. I just know from the loading times and CPU, particularly for magnetic, that I didn’t want to find out I think a related thread could be something like “what’s your bottom line/best practices for making sure that Push 3 remain a performance instrument?” My criteria for standalone is mor...

Re: Max For Live Packs that don't work on standalone

I’m away from my studio. Chiral has seen updates over the course of rolling out live 12. I don’t recall seeing a modulation table, so is it fair to say that it’s 100% compatible? And version tracking is easier to accomplish when youre buying the license directly from the developer. Where would you l...

Re: Max For Live Packs that don't work on standalone

I never found the Kasio nor the Katsuhiro Chiba offerings stable, and I ought to know better, as they are discontinued. low and behold, I only just discovered the Opfour presets, thinking this device must have a devoted following, and that perhaps it had been tested and debugged since my early first...

Re: Using Push 3 to record a vocal mic signal

Neat idea I think once the battery is charged, there’s not much need for it remaining plugged in. And some battery powered mics are measured in 100s of hours But the idea could be applied to other 5v devices. The port will both power and send midi for dreadbox synths, for example. Widi hub? Maybe on...

Re: Push 3 - User Wavetables

splinters, you are the first sign of mention on the internet of the upgrade today. Even ableton hasn't listed the new feature set, if I'm not mistaken. Only the features list from the last beta, which was posted over a couple weeks ago, and of course the general announcement that the upgrade would o...

Re: Using Push 3 to record a vocal mic signal

I want to revise my above comment to say go for it! I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't acknowledge that this is pretty much what I was describing earlier: some means of getting the mic to supply its own phantom power. You'll want the 48v most likely. "T-power" or 12v typically applies to many ...

Re: Using Push 3 to record a vocal mic signal

I'd say just use the apollo twin as a standalone preamp (surely it can be configured as such), but you'd need the line out, as it doesn't send out ADAT. So I'm not in love with this solution. That item does look like it would work. To my point, he's a videographer. Alternatively, see if you can't fi...

Re: Using Push 3 to record a vocal mic signal

No, that item wouldn't work. Because you still need to send it phantom power. That's for boosting a ribbon or a dynamic mic while buffering it from the added voltage. But you'd still need something to supply the voltage. My best advice would be to find a mic that takes a battery. You're still able t...

Re: push 3 collections browsing

It's a different collection set. Even the labels do not carry over. I guess when you pair the Push 3 over wifi, you could drag them temporarily into a folder named the same as your collection ("blue", even, would work). and then re-categorize them once they are on push. But first, I think ...

Re: Routing a send/return to external audio fx push 3

FollowUp Q:
Could you create the FX loop using Hardware Outputs 1-2 instead of Headphone Out3-4?
Then use headphone out as the Main Out?
If so, what would the Output settings be on the Push?

Seems like it should be obvious, and yet it's just as easy for me to make a feedback loop by mistake.

Re: Routing a send/return to external audio fx push 3

thanks, xrcst, this was very helpful. For anyone grumbling about setting things up on the computer, keep in mind that he's giving the presets very descriptive names which are moved back onto the Push3S. It's a one-time inconvenience. From there, you just hot swap the preset if you need a different r...
