Jackin house is stuff that is coming out of Chicago more than anywhere else, sort of hip house. Would a snap kick give an energy to a track that a deep wouldn't?

Kick. Under or over??????

I am having trouble sitting my kicks at the moment. Am I right in thinking that in Dance music (I am trying jackin and deep house) the kick should sit deeper than the bass so you feel the pump from the kick and the bass should go above it. Or should the bass be deep and the kick more mid. Does it wo...

From what it sounds like is that you are using auto warp. You can adjust the warp markers by double clicking them an moving them to where you want if the sample is hitting in the wrong place.

Have you gone to option>preferences>midi to see if ableton has automatically recognised it?

Or as simple as this might seem the small red circle at the bottom of the channel you are trying to use? This will arm the track to recieve incoming messages?

So if I just go into Live find the patches and drag them from the live browser to the operator folder, it works?

I got about 100 patches to put into the folder, I am not just trying to save patches I have created, I am trying to move them all on mass.

Thanks for the help so far

To be fair I am fairly new to this game. I have done a spot of reading, books, internet and magazines and a bit of fiddling around. The loudness thing I found an issue, especially people worrying me talking about over compression, and the likes, to get a louder sound, so in my very short production ...

That seems pretty much a cert then. Maybe I need to put my VST's down for a bit and get back to Operator.

You have all been very kind with your responses I know things like this can get ignored too easily.

Well I never knew that. I thought it was start from scratch when you upgrade unless you bought the Suite copy. Nice one!

Yeah I know I don't need 7 to get it, I already have it on 6. When I upgrade should I buy it? How many times will I really use it?

I will get Sampler for sure. Not so sure about the new things available in 7, the string emulator and so on.

Incidently I make Soulful, Deep and Jackin house.

Operator users take a vote

I am thinking of upgrading to 7 and I am not sure how much use Operator is. Do people really get a lot of use out of it? I use plenty of VSTs and Sampler but don't really touch Operator. I have learnt it through tutorials etc so have experimented a bit. Is it worth it's money and do people get a gre...
