Re: amon tobin - isam
I’m not a huge Tobin fan and haven’t heard this release but I find it interesting what some of you are complaining about. I don’t listen to Tobin for solid grooves. I see a lot of his music as experimental with interesting edits which seems to be what some people on here are complaining about. And ...

Re: amon tobin - isam
I love Amon. One of my favorite producers of all time. Although, you have to be in the right mood for his music. It's much more enjoyable after a smoke 8) Can't wait to listen to this new one (moving houses has gotten in the way). He's really getting into field recording and such, so I was expecting...

Re: any tips on calming the nerves B4 taking stage..
I always take a dump. It's best to do it in a bar/venue next door or across the street. Nothing like smelling it up and opening the bathroom door to people in line who paid to see you play.

LOL. That's actually a great way to promote. Reverse psychology. Now I want to see how garbage it actually is.nathannn wrote:i dont really make electronic....
my sound cloud page is full of garbage right now but the last two songs on there are the type of music i make most often.

Re: Any one ever peruse the "Chill Out" Section on beatport?
Right on. Honestly, I've been slacking on it. I do one every couple months or so. I need to do it more often. I love it though because I always find some great artists every time I do it. That was the reason I started doing it. I wanted to push myself to explore that music, and needed a kind of goal...

Re: I hate days like this... layoffs
Sucks man... This has been the subject of conversation at my work the past 2 months. My whole department got outsourced at a large telecommunications company. Half the people let go with severance, the other half told they have to join the new Indian contract company, and if they say no it's a volun...

Yeah, I go there all the time for my podcast mixes. Huge variety in there, so if you after a specific sub-genre, it takes some exploring. But there are some diamonds in the rough.

Re: QUAKED - SKATING IN CHRISTCHURCH AFTER EARTHQUAKE
Awesome vid. It's hard to sit at work now... I remember when I lived in England during the 90s, and the funeral for Princess Diana was going on. My buddies and I went out on town and skated all over. It was the best skating day of my life, because there was NO ONE out driving or walking around, not ...

But honestly, stop relying on others to book you. No one cares. Book yourself.
Release your own music. Throw your own event. Repeat. It's almost the only way these days, and it works.

Re: Ableton Live 8 with M4L for free.
$300 is ridiculous, and even the $210 they are offering to the newsletter subscribers is too much to get any serious movement on it. Only if you have no idea what you're getting with M4L. M4L is Max 5 with a couple of minor differences. Max 5 costs $700. Do the math. It's a deal no matter how you s...

Re: Americans aren't nostalgic, or weren't nostalgic
I stood in line Friday for 4 hours just to apply to one job. My hands where frozen by the time I got into the building. From there scribbled my info the best i could. and was given a 3 minute interview and sent on my way just like the other 10,000 people. so yeah im a little nostalgic. Hey nathann,...

Re: Question for the Live PA Drummers out there
Thanks everyone. Gonna try things out very soon. I have an RME Multiface2 for my studio PC, but it's the PCIe card.. Maybe it's time to look into the expresscard slot version to test out the latency there. @Distaudio: Yeah, trying to control the drum mix in Ableton along with my other tracks. Looks ...
