Apparently this latency is common with the built in mic. There are many forums and Apple site questions regarding this. So as far as I can tell, with the built in mic, that is the latency you will always have unless they change something major.

Live usually warps clips automatically in an attempt to sync the material from the clip with the global tempo.

Lag is a pretty general term. Would help if you described what the lag applies to, and if it was a different experience on a previous system with the same peripherals.
