having too much gear and not enough time is a curse +1 It certainly is. having too much gear and not enough time is a curse +1 It certainly is. What if you have too much gear and too much time? Sounds like a death sentence. Unless the OP tries a private lesson he was never serious because I handed ...

Re: New and frustrated

Easyworkflow that sounds brilliant - though it got me round to thinking. Ive been a guitar player for years and after getting fed up with relying on other people in bands and such, and with a new job sapping my time, and a new fondness for electronic music i thought 'hey ill give that a go'!!!! But...

New Macbook Pro Question?

I have a 2016 Imac at home with 4.0 GHZ processor, 32gb ram, 1 TB SSD drive. It's a workhorse and handles all my audio needs. My 2009 laptop died and I need to buy a new Apple laptop for Live solo gigs. I tend to keep computers for at least 5 to 7 years so I always max them out. My confusion is whet...

Re: New and frustrated

Bro...I was in the same exact boat you are in 1 year ago. I am brand new to DAWs and MIDI and purchased Ableton and Push thinking piece of cake as I had a home recording studio before which was a stand alone Roland VS-24 analog 24 track recorder. So I thought this would be easy. WRONG!!!!. I had no ...

Great article I just read Are you guilty as well?

Hello friends....all I can say is I am guilty of what this man describes in below article. I can't tell you how many times I fell into this exact scenario. And curious to see how many of you also have fallen into this trap. I no longer deal with this issue this and now try to get as many ideas down ...

Re: Recommendation for 2nd pair of headphones

I would agree, open-back headphones are better for hearing the details of the music, which is an aid to mixing and mastering. But if you've got any live mics in the room, the sound leaking from those headphones is going to be a problem. Closed-back are the way to go if you're recording. Have you th...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

If you go to top upper left hand corner, right next to the word tap, there is a number 120.00. If you type a new number instead of 120.00, the song will either speed up or slow down. That's cool. You really need to try this.

Re: Any Solo artists waiting on new 2016 Mac Book Pro

Thanks CP. I am with you about buying used. Refurbished is way to go and deals will be happening once that new unit is released. I decided to buy a $1200- $1500 refurbished laptop and wait another year or so to upgrade to new one. The refurbished laptop will become my backup at gigs. Good looking ou...

Any Solo artists waiting on new 2016 Mac Book Pro

Hello friends, I had both a 2009 apple MacBook Pro laptop which passed away 6 months ago and a 2009 Imac on last leg so I had to purchase a new Imac. Went balls out and bought 4GHZ, 32GB ram and 1TB SSD drive unit. . The home computer I think needs the most processing power especially when writing t...

Recommendation for 2nd pair of headphones

Hello friends, I need to purchase a second set of headphones so I can have another musician over late at night without disturbing neighbors. My current pair which I love is the BeyerDynamic 770 pro 250 ohms which is a closed back model. I love them so much I almost want to get a second pair but that...

Re: Moving from NY...need recommendation!!

I am disabled and live on social security disability. So the amount I receive ever month does not change regardless of where you are living. I just need to move to a cheaper area of country that has great music scene with a lower cost of living. I was already online and rentals were 3o to 40% less t...

Moving from NY...need recommendation!!

Hello Friends,

I live right outside of NYC and realize it's a great music city. But due to cost of living expenses, I have decided to move.

Anyone familiar with the downtown area of Denver Colorado called LODO as happening music scene? Cost of living is almost 50% less than NYC.

Thanks

Why is audio still coming out of studio monitors?

Hello Friends....I have a Focusrite Claret 8 pre and when I plug my headphones into one of the two headphone jacks on front of unit, audio still comes out over studio monitors. I thought plugging headphone into jack disables audio to monitors. Any ideas what simple change I need to make? Thanks a bu...

Hi, I have a tech job up with Spectrasonics but it isnt going anywhere. Sorry for confusion, but does that mean you work for Spectrasonics or do you have an open trouble ticket? Re: Are downloadable Loops, patches, presets, etc for amateurs?

There are a lot of sides to music But, think of making music like martial arts. Do you want to be the fat one-punch slugger with no cardio, or do you want to be the guy with all the techniques and slick moves that gets results because always he knows what the fuck he's doing. In music that means un...
