I've also heard this might be the case with some friends who have a Virus TI - they say they'd rather use the analog outputs instead of the USB-SoftSynth version. They say it just sounds better. Personally, I like the hands on, dedicated controls of a hardware synth. Being able to (with my eyes closed) instantly reach for any parameter and know what it does. I don't think it matters one bit. I've heard awesome examples of both. Korg Legacy, Pro-53, Arturia Minimoog are some of the best synths I've ever heard. Isn't internal mixing bus PRIOR to any master faders though? Just out of curiousity, what did you mean by you had to normalize the one with the lower fader?
