What do you guys use for an external sample editor?
I'm looking for something that's a little more user-friendly than Audacity.
Just need something basic that's VST compliant and very easy to work with.
Oh, and something that can render loops (with effect tails and all that jazz)

Use the device browser on the left side of the screen just like a file browser, find the mp3 on your hard disk and click on it. This will preview it at whatever tempo Live is currently at. Then, if you wanna mess with it, just drag and drop it somewhere in the session or the arrangement view. It's a...

MCmu experience
I was wondering what everybody's experience with MCmu Mackie Control emulation software was? I tried downloading it, but they make you register - and of course the email I was supposed to get never showed. Is this software worth pursuing? Having some 'relational controllers' functionality in Live 6 ...

visual feedback for live devices
I have a couple of audio tracks I'm using for mixing, and they both have EQ3's on them. I've assigned some trigger buttons to the EQ kills for each band, and everythin is working great as far as mixing is concerned. What I wanna know is: Is there some way to have some sort of visual feedback to indi...

Here's what I think... I've been doing the Systems/Network administration gig for about 4 years now. Been in IT as a pro for 8. Yes, it requires some hours at night and on the weekends... But if you set your systems up right and you're not on an enormous constant-maintenance network or something, th...

Critique my Live setup
I was gonna write this long, drawn-out description of EVERYTHING that I do with live, but I decided it would be best not to torture the locals too much. (you can thank me later) It basically comes down to this... Hardware: EMU XL-7 Command Station HP Pavilion 3GHz P4 Echo Indigo DJ Interface Edirol ...

OT: trade my novation x-station 49 for your x25
Running out of studio space... Would like a straight-up trade my X49 for your X25. Works perfectly. Have original manual, software and cabling. Also have a nice keyboard cover that I won't need anymore. Have only had it since x-mas. Would like the X25 for increased portability - and smaller form fac...

The Emu XL-7, MP-7 and the PX-7 Command Stations have a bunch of knobs, you can probably find one pretty cheap on ebay. dont think they sample though. I believe you need an EMu ultra series sampler to transefer samples to it, but then again you didnt mention anything about sampling. Right on. I'm u...

Just get a Boss SP-303 (or the SP-404 if you can justify the extra $100).
As long as you can deal with only 8 polyphony it's okay. After I started cutting up my drum breaks, I couldn't use it anymore...
