I'm having the same problem for a while now. I emailed the support and this is what they answered me : " You will never get a 100% stable tempo on the slave, because there's always jitter on your MIDI interface which leads to fluctuations of the MIDI clock data, e.g. one clock pulse arrives too...

I've been succesfully controlling session view with my ps3 controller. I use this software : http://www.steim.org/steim/junxion_v4.html , you can map any stick or button to midi.
