Re: Windows 7 is an eyesore...

don't disable aero. this is only a fallback for when the system fails to handle aero for some reason.

enable aero, configure if you want transparency, what color. aero is faster and less powerconsuming than the basic theme. why? because it uses the gpu for drawing, the one device MADE for drawing.

Re: Apple buys Ableton!!!

they're still at 5% market share. you life in an apple-centric bubble, there (and america is off anyways with >10% right now?). that still means with the same attack, you can get 10x the people falling for it, with the same effort. since apple moved to intel, there where NOT MUCH VIRUSES ON WINDOWS,...

Re: Apple buys Ableton!!!

while it's true that it's impressive no one actually hacked apple, that doesn't mean they're secure. it does mean, though, that users who bought into the security luckily so far stayed save. so it's sort of a self-fullfilling prophecy. back before intel, macs where not target because you actually ha...

Re: Apple buys Ableton!!!

I like Apple and think they put out a great product, but I cannot wait until people start writing viruses for Macs and all the fanboys who love to brag about how they don't need to worry about viruses or malware end up eating large amounts of tasty, tasty crow. And, when exactly is this going to ha...

Re: What Apple Mac Products do you own?

none

(does having to have quicktime installed to be able to playback mp4 files that play just fine in media player but don't play in ableton live without quicktime count?)

Re: Very impressive... Kinect hacks

well, it is what it is, and that's an "uber-webcam", that can record depth, additional to the image. what you do with that info is then up to you. but i can sure see interesting things for realtime video-effects for live-setups. i, personally, would love to see it getting incorporated in s...

Re: touchable replaces novation launchpad? crushes?

I'd say the fact that so many people see very little use for an actual keyboard points squarely to how much uninteresting music is being released, and you don't have to be a concert pianist to see the advantage. Take our resident electro producer Mint Invader for example who broke through a major b...

Re: touchable replaces novation launchpad? crushes?

If you're not playing an instrument and purely doing knob tweaking then I can see how it might be a bit unsatisfying to only use a touchscreen. While I've also dumped my regular keys for live work (I don't do a lot of fancy synth work during a show anyway so the small keys on touchAble work great),...

Re: Who uses presets?

as said, not using presets myself, or samples, much, as i somehow consider it cheating. but i don't consider it lame, hearing all the non-lame creative stuff created out of it. Dave, do you mean that great music can be made by cheating? Cheating<>Lame? yeah, cheating != (<>) lame. lame == the music...

Re: Who uses presets?

? sorry man .an instrument in itself is no preset. thats a stupid thing to say and a preset is not a sample, it can be played like an instrument. a stradivary is like a preset for the violin synth: a specific sounding version of violin. and one can play it in awesome ways. just like one can play a ...

you tolerate crashbugs too.. that is your overly generous personality but wont change any rules regarding music production out there. no i don't. as i don't tolerate people moaning about them but not accepting help. like you. as often with native social rules they are not easy to get for foreigners...

Re: touchable replaces novation launchpad? crushes?

i won't move to touchscreen only until i can feel what i touch, too.

lots of great things happening in the touchscreen scene, of course. exploring it is great. but it does't ever take away "tweaking a knob".

Re: Deadmau5

You're not getting it, I used house as an example, but I'm talking about electronic dance music in general, not just house, the fact that a specific genre inside EDM as a whole will be that homogenous. I listen to a lot of electronic dance music, and thrash metal, but I acknowledge that a lot of it...
