a 'mode' for live performance?

I've been toying with the idea of doing a live set. getting together samples of tracks I've made, plus midi/instrument bits and so on, and doing a live set, like a dj does, mixing my tunes beatmatched and all, one to the other.... but I don't want to just mix the mixdowns like a dj with other people...
