You'd be better off using Live's Analog if you want to stay with Ableton devices... I started out saying the same thing yesterday, then I went off and tried it and came back and edited my post because I decided it was actually easier with Operator and the SVF filters because they get you that squel...

I think that article Tone quoted was written before Live 8 when it got some new filters - choosing the new SVF filters might be better - and there is also a filter shaper now which could save you using Saturator. Although even the Overdrive plugin might be more suitable than Saturator, also added in...

I'm not involved in any film or video projects that have a strict deadline. If that were the case, I'd feel no qualms about using unadulterated presets. Just make it more about the composition than the featuring of the sound, and I think its fine. that's another good point - when things are needed ...

I've skimmed through the thread, but has the link been updated? Because it sounded like yours was louder than his actually to me…. in either case they're both way too loud!

with the NI stuff I have no problem using the presets the Ableton stuff on the other hand is I think more intended for making your own so if I want to just flick through presets and find a good one then I'll load up an NI synth, but if I know the sound I want in my head then I'll create it with an A...
