Re: Dizz1 3rd Time Lucky

Interesting sonic constructions, 'Somewhat' has done something to my ears... one sound definitely goes up and down vertically while poking at my back teeth. Thanks for posting. What you use for drum input? Been thinking about getting some kind of pads setup, cos making beats via keyboard is limiting...

Re: computerized sting cover (shape of my heart)

It's got a gentle touch, not a Sting fan (anymore) but that's something different

Re: music ambient, acoustic, feedback welcome

+1 for Soundcloud. Last time I looked about a year ago, it was too spendy and restrictive. Now it's fabulous and seems very well designed and written. It's easy to hunt around groups and share your tracks and the timed comments feature is really the shiznit. I joined the two Ableton groups 'Ableton ...

Re: Gypsy Bass Music

Never heard of Gyp step =) I had to listen. It's interesting stuff for sure. The violin is very atmospheric. I particularly liked Clownie, that's awesome stuff right there. I found the high end of the percussion maybe a little cutting but that might be the style for all I know Will keep an eye out f...

Re: Ableton Noobie First Efforts

Been a long time, but I finally got my arse back into finishing something. Ableton tried to stop me honest! I had that out of memory error and I couldnt get back into the set, big sweat on! Thankfully the /3GB switch rescued it *phew* Let me tell you a story... It all started with the simple octave ...

Timestamped / Broadcast WAV export

I have been asked if Ableton can support this. All the posts on these forums indicate the answer is no. But I did find the following instructions via Google: http://www.eclecticarecordings.com/bar1beat1.htm ctrl/cmd in windows may be just "control" as used with "control+A" is sel...

Another hopelessly genre-confused ditty

See, I bought myself this Akai EWI USB thingy. I always found keyboards so un-expressive compared to my guitar that I was never satisfied. I have seen Mike Brecker (God rest his soul) a few times live and I always thought the EWI was a marvellously expressive instrument so when the USB one came out,...

The vintech thing is a mike pre-amp? Not really relevant to us folks who can't crank up their pukka little valve amps at home, or am I missing something.

Hehe I doubt it, but I like him and I use a Pod! Pod - More like a kidney bean than a laptop. - More like a kidney too for that matter EDIT: Added Junior Brown quote that is pertinent... "People put too much emphasis on equipment. Some of the best playing I've ever done has been on the worst po...

Guitar players are some of the pickiest people on the planet (pun intended). Asking a guitar player about tone is like asking a painter what the best color is. Too many individual variables in gear and playing styles to really make it a worthwhile question. You like Joe Satriani, so I rest my case....
