Re: Richie Hawtin you idiot.
Hawtin was too much of a geek to have ghost producers before the 2000's. As far as drugs go, sure I did plenty, but early Plastikman was part of the soundtrack of my life in high school. Sober, intoxicated, whatever. Of course, I also listen to every electronic genre, always have, and never saw a r...

Re: Richie Hawtin you idiot.
Tom, you are just trolling. Hawtin was pretty definitive in the 90's, if you really want to know about it you can Google or Wikipedia it like anyone else. In 2002 he goes to Ibiza with Sven Vath and its all downhill from there. That's pretty much all you need to know. http://en.wikipedi...

Re: What are you biggest challenges to completing songs?
Getting it done before I get bored with it.
Lately I'm pushing myself to get the foundational elements in place as quickly as possible, which seems to be working well.

Re: linux?
I've got to give it to Bitwig, they basically made themselves the go-to production software for Linux users.
It's not a huge market share, but its a community of dedicated users and that definitely counts for something.

Re: How useful is a 5K display, really?
I'm not 5k, but I like the extra screen space on my 2560x1400. Some friends have a harder time seeing it, but as a heavy computer user I got used to it in a day or two.

Making their username ohigetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends may not be against the rules...

That's some pretty shaky ground you are standing on. You should probably abandon modern society immediately...no consumer is free from sin.zumd2 wrote:It sucks because I really love Ableton and want to upload tutorials and teach the program to others. But now I don't know :/

Re: "You're Dead" to me Flying Lotus!!!!
I like the vibe of his stuff, but something with the way he does his beats makes me nauseous. A few songs are fine, like Parisian Goldfish for instance, but most of the time I'm feeling something akin to motion sickness after about 15-30 seconds of listening. Its really strange, I listen to a lot of...

Re: Upcoming New Aphex Twin Album - SYRO
I heard the entire album this morning and really dug it. Those looking for something revolutionary will surely be disappointed though, it has more of a 90's electronic album aesthetic but very coherent and enjoyable to listen to imo.

Re: 32 GB RAM - the new 8 GB RAM?
I wouldn't worry too much about DDR4, but I have found 32GB to come in handy quite a bit lately. If you multitask a lot its worth it, otherwise its just future proofing. It is becoming the new standard pretty quick though.

Worth every penny imo, I only wish I would have bought it sooner. The most stable interface I've owned by far.XSIMan wrote:RME always win the benchtests I 've had my eye on the baby face for a while.
