One of the few areas though where I like the absynth approach better still is the multi-envelopes. In absynth it's cool that you can see them all together as well as seeing a position marker run through the timeline. I could be wrong but I don't think alchemy's mseg's have a position marker showing...

I just have to try something that expensive before buying... Yeah I hear you. Looks like a demo is planned. I was thinking about Omnisphere as well but they don't have a demo. $499 is a pretty huge leap with no demo. I'm into additive synthesis and more interested in making my own sounds with resyn...
