Re: SM58 Mic with Push 3 is super quiet
Funny that no one caught it. You did mention something about a guitar later on. But I suspect this is one of those blind spots to monitoring via headphones: you might have missed the ground hum. Yes, that's going to consume the majority of your headroom. A tempestuous guitar/pedal is otherwise diffi...

Re: Strategies for (re-)organizing projects?
I'll follow the other replies, but a quick contribution: I do a resample of every session worth documenting. What if those devices crash next time or there's an update that introduces incompatibility? Get it in clip form now. Label that reSampling track, thus the clips will have a more meaningful na...

Re: Organizing a project with multiple mixes
I'm participating here, not because I'm any wiser but because you ask an interesting and important question. As it stands, it's much easier to create parent-offspring projects, but a bit trickier to setup sibling projects. One thing I'll say is that I don't see the merit in making this more difficul...

Re: SM58 Mic with Push 3 is super quiet
I'm just as confused about dynamic mics, lmbauer2017 and to add to the mix the distinction between a mic and an instrument gain setting. That said, there are many dynamic mics--the RE20 comes to mind, the shure sm7b--that will come in with a low signal. I long suspected this would be an issue. [s]Ma...

Re: Generative workflow and algorithmic sequencer update to push3
I’m so accustomed to working creatively with constraints that I didn’t really consider a Euclidean takeover mode for Push. It would certainly be welcome. But that’s what an independent company that implemented Link and a local network into their hardware is for. I think of the Torso as a member of t...

Re: Push 3 Update Changelog for 1.2?
Of course what brought me here is whether the beta HD cycle offers any insight to the live 12 features that will carry forward to push 3. As it stands those release notes for Live 11 are current with the updates. In other words, Push is being tested and updated with the stability and integration of ...

Re: Push 3 audio interface - Give us Direct monitoring - Roundtrip latency is bad
Yup! I still use thunderbolt. Why not? Is a free port waiting to get in the action. And USB transfers in packets, albeit the performance must be getting better. Interesting article published by Ableton on how the M1 chip actually performs better under some lower buffer sizes (presumedly due to the i...

Re: Push 3 audio interface - Give us Direct monitoring - Roundtrip latency is bad
Again, Dough, to honor what the author is illuminating, it's not a pragmatic question of whether of whether push's performance is good or bad: the latency is workable, until it isn't. It's the fact that the actual best practices of direct monitoring is literally unavailable to push as an interface. ...

Re: Anyone have a good way to deal with pick up notes?
Global quantize to the pickup length is a neat approach. Problem is, you'll then introduce a syncopation from the global clock. I think what you want to do is keep the downbeat "on the one" the same as your metronome. In that case, make your start point a full bar/measure before your loop ...

Re: I JUST LOVE THIS THING <- A bit of Push 3 positivity for a change :)
Wow, Farley! That’s genuinely an evolution of an idea. As for finishing, it seems so simple, but even having a couple encoders under one’s fingertips really makes all the difference. Such a subtle consideration, but take an eq notch and a gain—if you have a controller that lets you close your eyes a...

You know, I wrote that and then realized you could probably find a good use for the ADAT, record from there while listening to yourself. I have an art voice channel with ADAT, as well as a clarett octapre, but we could go through a list of smaller units that would serve this purpose, worthy of recor...

Re: Reset Crossfader to Middle Position
Also, I do believe the center section of the x-fader highlights with it's own key command if you are not averse to a key binding.
I use "[\]" for "left right center"
I forget whether this center portion appears for midi assignment as well...

Re: Using the Ipad as Midi Generator for Push3S - can't get the connection work
that's encouraging, elbows. I have a handful of these options now, and it's good to know that the widi jack isn't by definition going to necessarily need 5v through a separate cable. As for the push being able to utilize the Bud, my mind is not ready to let that sink in. I'm having a tricky time gra...

Re: Using the Ipad as Midi Generator for Push3S - can't get the connection work
How is push 3 powering the widi, or using Widi Master for that matter? Push uses 3.5mm midi ports, does it not? I thought that would rule out both output power as well as that particular device. Widi Jack would do the trick. The nifty thing would be that you could probably tap into the USB port to p...

Re: Push 3 audio interface - Give us Direct monitoring - Roundtrip latency is bad
jur, I don't believe that is entirely analogous, although it does illustrate the bright side that something like 6ms is not going to throw off your timing. But with Direct Monitoring, it's not the drummer over there that you are referencing, it's the drummer here. The significance is that you are he...
