I found it, it's the system Temp folder that Live uses to write an .AAD file when rendering. I was able to change the Temp folder to the RAMdisk using the Windows Environment Variables but the performance boost I had hoped for never materialized.

Could be, but I was under the impression that the C: drive cache is the same cache from Live preferences which can be set to any location. I have that set to the X: drive. You don't really need to warp anything, not at least if you don't care how it sounds. If you don't care, don't do it. However, if you want it tight then spend the damn time to warp it right. That's a nicely done device. A damn rats nest of a patch but that's more common than not. It improves several things like:

- adding a vertical grid and snap
- quantizing to the global tempo
- default envelope shapes
