Re: BASS GUITAR recording techniques-how are you doing it?
Record direct to the guitar input on your soundcard to get the cleanest, unprocessed signal you can. Reducing the input gain to avoid clipping will worsen the signal to noise ratio slightly but if your sound card is any good it will still be basically inaudible in the mix, whereas digital clipping ...

Re: Should i get a better audio interface?
There's not much justification other than RME works-- really well. I don't think you're going to find a difference in sound quality compared to a less expensive interface that isn't somehow a subjective opinion of the user/listener. Used units look like they sell for around $1300, which sucks if you...

Re: Optimizing Export Audio
I found it, it's the system Temp folder that Live uses to write an .AAD file when rendering. I was able to change the Temp folder to the RAMdisk using the Windows Environment Variables but the performance boost I had hoped for never materialized.

Re: Optimizing Export Audio
Could be, but I was under the impression that the C: drive cache is the same cache from Live preferences which can be set to any location. I have that set to the X: drive. It really seems like Live is doing some type of computation on the C: drive that isn't related to the program install or the fin...

Optimizing Export Audio
As the title says I'm trying to optimize computer performance when rendering audio. I now have a RAMdisk running about 2000% faster I/O than an SSD and I've connected Live's Cache and Temp project folders to it and I'd like to figure out how to shift other Live functions to the faster disk as well. ...

I suspected as much and I respect a creative process over a utilitarian one. Feedback from those using your material would be the most helpful.TomViolenz wrote: That would totaly throw off the way I work ATM, I don't think I would like to compromise there.

Re: What is the point in warping?
From my own very limited experience I have a couple of tunes that I really like but they always seem to clash in any mix and I can never quite find a good spot to put them, I think largely because of the swing. A boring 4 on the floor intro really does make for painless mixing and mashing (just my o...

Re: Anyone else us the application iRAM disk for Ableton?
I am intrigued so I downloaded ImDisk and I'm going to give it a try. I'm running 32 bit Live on a 32GB system so I've got plenty of RAM to spare for something just like this. Thanks for the post.

Re: What is the point in warping?
You don't really need to warp anything, not at least if you don't care how it sounds. If you don't care, don't do it. However, if you want it tight then spend the damn time to warp it right. Most of the 128 stuff warps pretty easily 9 times out of ten if you set the global tempo right and do a "...

Re: multi point envelope draw (idea)
That's a nicely done device. A damn rats nest of a patch but that's more common than not. It improves several things like:
- adding a vertical grid and snap
- quantizing to the global tempo
- default envelope shapes

Re: New Deadmau5 a love letter to Trent
I agree with that assessment after having listened to the beatport samples. I didn't really hear anything that could be mixed into a show straight away. Could that be done intentionally so that the remix market makes things more genre suitable? The material seems a little self indulgent which of cou...

How about an RME UFX with some ADAT input expansion like an ADA8000 or OctoPre MkII?
