layer the sounds..........one bass sample on the other. keep close monitoring of the bass with your monitors so it doesn't distrort.

basslines come from quite few things....one is the microkorg.....minimoog voyager.......and of course records..........if you want the dilla sound............sample records and mess with your chops. and when you sample....sample the records that mean something to you. all those drums and sounds that...

try doing the break/drum pattern without quantise...........and try following a drum and bass song like photek or dilinja and seehow close you can replicate the timing.....not having quantise will make you a tighter prograsmmer plus it will help you understand how much swing you want in it.

any x station owners connect th trigger finger to the x station midi in and if so, have you noticed a much better responsiveness? when i did a usb/midi connection direct to the computer, my trigger finger was ok, but when i midi in to the x station,m i noticed triggering of drums is so much better.

yea, i rock the impulse. i just chop p my samples in audition and drop them in imuplse and voila........my mpc 1000 replacement.......now all i really need is some nice pads like the mpd24. but if you like impulse the sd2100 also has 8 sample slots and some nice parameters to tweak. irs' not sp1200 ...
