Hmm... strange. I'd try getting rid of everything else in the chain - the usb audio, the 828 - and just connect the Oxygen8. Set the Live preferences to take only Oxygen8 input. If you turn one of the knobs on the Oxygen8, you should get the Midi Track In indicator, in the top right corner, flashing...

Can't you just set the Cue Out to the channels you are using for your headphones and then use the solo/cue buttons on the tracks, plus the Preview/Cue volume. Simple, but maybe I'm missing something in your question?

Does your oxygen work if you connect it directly to your PC via USB, instead of via your MOTU 828?

Strange... I have no problem either. I assume that *all* of your pc/mac audio output is going out via firewire to the ultralite? You don't have Live routed out some other way? How is it if you don't use the ultralite, e.g with the built-in soundcard? When you play stuff in Live is the master out com...
