Beap is free, built into Max, and is super easy to use as long as you can patch modular.

I'd like to see the ability to added the expanded view you see in native Ableton Live devices such as Wavetable, EQ8, etc... to Max for Live devices. This would greatly expand available GUI space and make M4L devices feel more integrated into Ableton Live.

VST3 Changes nothing for Console 1 unfortunately. The AU supports track names and numbers (Mac only though obviously).

If you are on Mac and using the AU I also made a free Max device that makes Live follow the controller.
