have you tried consolidating all individual little clips? maybe its not the amount of clips which is causing the slow screen redraw.. you see, you can change little cuts of clips much more than you can in other programs. in most programs you have to make a new clip if you just wanna pitch it. in liv...

the mpd16 is 99 bucks go for that! the axiom nly has 8 pads. you want 16 of them to play a decent melody or bassline. add a cheap midi keyboard and you still pay less than the maudio axiom which is 250

the great thing ( maybe the greatest imo) about Live is that it xfades the clip a tiny little bit in the beginning and the ending. So that all chops playback smooth (without clicks!) after eachother.
