I make music because it's beautiful. Bringing beauty into your world is the highest calling, even if it's only beautiful to you. Beauty is after all in the eye of the beholder.

Re: Mysterious Random
Random is a pragmatic description, not theoretical. You can buy special plugin cards for computers that use thermionic valves to create analogue noise which is 'more random' than anything a chip can produce, but that's kinda nutty. There's probably other ways that are more 'quantum'.

Re: RME Babyface overkill for my setup/needs?
Some of the interfaces you mention are USB1.1 limiting the transfer rate. So you can't both listen and record at high bit rates. BabyFace supports USB2, which is betterer. I'm relatively noobie at this, so I could be wrong but I know that USB1 prevents me from recording at more than 44khz on my curr...

Let me write my contribution: The problem with M-Audio is: their products are not designed to work on Macs ON Bootcamp/Parallels/VMWare (Windows), NEITHER they work at 24 BITS depth, not on Windows nor on OS X, I own a FTP and it SUCKS!!!!! with this problems, it makes a terrible noise at 24 bits, ...

Re: Is the M-Audio Fast Track any good?
Lol, just check the rest of the thread. It was like going back in time! But FWIW, Firewire doesn't have significant advantages in speed, and you also read a lot about incompatibilities between different Firewire chipsets. If you search these forums you will find evidence that certain soundcards (Pre...

I own Fast Track Pro, never had a single problem with it. Plugged it in, it worked, never stopped, no trouble whatsoever
