it's bus powered on the mac alright, needs a 6 pin firewire connection, I haven't seen any PC laptops with this but I'm sure they're out there somewhere.

What's better? Computer > HD > interface or Computer > Interface > HD?

I have a express slot. Wanted a 1616m also, two weeks ago, so I called them up wondering when the release date would be, they could not give me a date so I went with firewire. That said prob wise to stay from that adapter for a while, I hate paying to be a beta tester.

I think you're confusing the ESI nEar 05 small studio monitor with shure IN-ear earplug type monitors which I think he's refering to, which are used as stage monitors.

I know that the Emu cards do not like sharing IRQs. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories >System Information Find out whatever your card is sharing an IRQ with and disable it in the hardware profile.
