Ableton Forum

well, im not "DJ" ing the sets... Im actually setting off the samples by hand for each track, and I cannot open 2 different sets in the same instance.. im not just playing tracks that I made.. im actually PLAYING the song, as in, im controlling the drum loops, samples, effects, etc.. and I...

ok.. im having an issue.. I need to have both instances of ableton in sync when it comes to dropping loops and whatnot, but I dont want the sequencer to move forward to the end.. for instance if i am playing set 1 on ableton 1, and I want to cue song 2 on ableton 2 from the beginning, it wont let me...

basically, I want one pc to be playing one als file, and the other to be queing up one to be mixed in from the other.. just like having 2 turntables... I can get them sync'd, but I cannot get the als file I cued up to play where I want it to.. all of my tracks start off with me setting off at least ...

ok, so I got 1 instance of ableton that is just going to be a midi clock.. I have the other instance syncd up and I can see its getting time signals, but when I hit play, or trigger a sample, nothing plays.. how do I correct this?

now I can get stuff to play, but it doesnt let me skip around and whatnot.. goddam it.. there has to be a simple way to do this, and it is frustrating the hell out of me.. there are hundreds of people that do what I am trying to do, and it works for them and not me.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

well, that doesnt work, because it wont play any samples when it is synched with midiclock.. it shows them playing, but doesnt play anything until I drop sync

ok.. i found a program called MIDIClock.. all it does it set a tempo, and send clock signals... so now i can just sync ableton to that

well, from what I can tell, we are going to need 2 computers and ipmidi or something like that to do this... I cannot switch from one song to the other without stopping the audio...

are there any FREE midi-ethernet programs?
