Re: Are you getting PUSH?
Right now with my Maschine controller + my MPC 49 I'm set. Rarely do I use Live to actually play live. I use it more for composition and arrangement. If I do get a wild hair in me and start putting together stuff to use live for parties and whatnot, I'll first try using the Maschine controller to la...

Re: Maschine software only? Or alternatives?
Just learn how to use the Maschine hardware, it's a great piece of gear. The pads are awesome (compared to any Akai MPK) and they light up orange! You can also control Live with it. Give it another chance..

Re: Bass Tones! You mean I can't just pick one at random?
I re-read my original post and I must have been wacked out or something, because it makes no sense and is all over the place. But, ^ what JesterMcGee posted is right on the money. Looking for those types of responses. Basically, the process you go through trying to select bass sounds and then your p...

Re: I finally have some money!!!! NI Massive, worth it?
To whoever said save money and buy komplete when half off... great advice. I bought Komplete Ultimate 8 last summer for a crossgrade price on top of their sale (as I owned Maschine), and it's totally worth the extra cash. Not only do you get Massive (which is like $125 new right?), but you get FM8, ...

Bass Tones! You mean I can't just pick one at random?
Hello people! You may have seen my first question regarding programming bass that I posted last week, and now it's time for a follow up on that! So, my question now is how to dial in a great bass tone? Usually, I'm pretty partial to "natural" bass sounds; meaning sounds replicating an elec...

Re: Writing Funky Basslines With Keys?!?
Thanks for all the good advice guys. It's always interesting to probe into people's minds and get a feel for their processes.
Anyway, all good advice like I said, now I'm going to bring up bass tones in a different topic!

Re: Writing Funky Basslines With Keys?!?
^^ That's what I generally do too, improvise with either my keyboard or maschine pads in the minor pentatonic over a groove. It's just sooo much harder with keys than actually having a bass in hand.. Anyway, I'm probably over thinking it like you guys said.. anyway, back to work. I need to go back a...

Re: Writing Funky Basslines With Keys?!?
Good advice so far, thanks guys! keep em coming! I haven't watched the youtube vid yet, as I'm at work, but I'm guessing it's a Bootsy video and his approach to bass? I've seen that video sooo many times lol. But it's spot on. Angstrom, when you choose where to put your sub hits, are they in time wi...

Writing Funky Basslines With Keys?!?
Ok guys, what's up? So, I have issues when it comes to writing basslines with a keyboard/programming basslines. Writing basslines for house/dance music is relatively simple as the notes are all on quarter or eighth notes and are pretty "locked in" to the grid. But, I like to make funkier m...

Re: ableton/midi guitar
Yes, here let me shamelessly plug one of my own junky bands - www.larsnelsonandcargocult.com go to the tunes page and stream the song Sugar Cane. There's an example of a midi guitar over the reverse solo towards the end. The synth you hear mixed in the background is played on a midi guitar with an o...

Re: Different scales
Or you could just learn the scales, it would take you one whole day! Just kidding  But honestly, I've always found improv playing with the scale instrument to give me less control over my arrangement. It will sound right, but not right on! (augmented/diminshed chords and notes outside the s...

This bugs me too, it would make jumping the 1 a lot easier.

Re: Akai MPK49 vs Novation Sl MkII49 (with Live)
I have an MPK 49 and I like it a lot. I rarely use the pads, except for one shots (only because I use my maschine for pad drumming). Keys are good, no they're not fully weighted, but they're pretty good. Some people complain about them being too springy, but I haven't noticed it being a relevant fac...

Re: About the sounds in Suite.
actually, thinking about this more... I think the boxed version comes with EIC2 (essential instruments collection 2)... it might be an option to omit it in the downloaded version. Did you do that? Or did you pay for it and just not realize it or download EIC2? Might want to double check that.

Re: About the sounds in Suite.
If it's Suite, even the downloaded version should have more than those sounds. In my drum machines instrument I have probably 40 - 50 kits alone... you may want to call or contact Ableton to clear things up. I don't see why the download would be different than the boxed version. I have about ten ins...
