The problem was related to Automap. Rewrapping the 3rd party plugins with Automap remedied the problem.

-deactivate 'auto hide plugin windows'

if you have Max for Live devices or External Audio Effect devices
or External Instrument devices in the Set, please freeze/flatten these
tracks or delete them before loading this Set in Rewire Slave mode.

Hi, - delete all Live x.x.x folders which can be found here: ~ /User/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live x.x.x Now start up Live and check if it works with the built in soundcard. you could use the pitch plugin -> Live -> midi effects to transpose
the incoming notes from the Apc20.

- do you have any devices connected to the Motu via digital connection? If yes,
try to disconnect them and see if that changes anything.
