Still having pops and clicks in 9.0.4 when turning on/off vsts. My workaround this: Create two chains in a fx rack. name the first chain 'THRU', name the 2nd chain after the effect ('LIMITER' as an example). Drop the Limiter in the second chain. One can create this two chain rack as mentioned, then right click this rack and group to new rack, and map the effect and rack power switches to one of the new top level macros. Right click the chain selector or device title bar, there should be a command called 'chain filters midi to device' or something similar. Try that.
