it's worth noting that in the software realm, Absynth can be set to some interesting tunings on a patch by patch basis. I seem to recall that "just" was one of them.

I'm really interested in what Mastering plugin your running, as i'd imagine thats where your CPU is getting sucked up. if it's not for live preformance and your just writing, then it may be worth writing the tunes and then mastering them seperately.

Hey guys, you sound like just the people i wanna talk to... So, i already own live and i've been getting pretty temped by the MPD-16, but i'm wondering, what else i'd be missing by not getting a MPC? I'm interested in the little things about the MPCs which don't seem to get mentioned as features. wh...

yeah, definitely have to agree one this one. I can upgrade my mac pretty easily, i just order a processor upgrade off the net and install it in my machine same as anyone else. now, alot of mac users are not the type of people who will open their machine up and do an upgrade, but that does not mean t...

it's simple as can be. just get live playing in sync with the track the same way you'd sync 2 CD players and run the audio signal into live for recording and manipulation.

or, just rip the tune off the CDs and get rid of the CD decks all together.

yeah, you can do what your talking about with Max as well if you wanted, but kongbalong is correct, live will not accept midi from plugins. so you'd need to run max in the background as a seperate app. i do it all the time.

I'm gonna offer a different opinion just for the hell of it. trainwreck every tune. just pick great tunes that are fresh and interesting and put them together in a fun way. ever made a mix tape? don't take the DJ thing too seriously, really, you play records at a party so people can dance and have a...

not sure what OS your running to recommend software solutions. I think you'll like "Soundflower" from Cycling74 or "Jack Audio Server" which is open source.

personally i'd stick to firewire if you can. From what i understand USB2 can burst data at speeds up to and very slightly higher then firewire 400, however the sustained data throughput is much lower.

Depending on the rules, each competitor goes up head to head with someone else and "performs" a set (ususlly around 3 minutes) with nothing but a Laptop, soundcard and mouse. No controllers. Judged on creativity, performance, sound quality. I have seen footy, and they are usually a showca...
