Re: is live remote actually limited to 1000 scenes per project?

Any chance 1000 scenes is the equivalent of 32,000 pixels tall?

Re: Original synthesis versus Presets

Do what I do. Try and complete your arrangement as quick as possible; use presets for all of your synth sounds. Once you're happy with the song; start messing with the timbre/effects/etc. I compose with a hardware workstation or softsynths. Once the song's done; I'll bust out the MKS80/Matrix1000/DV...

That's not true at all.

Just a trick when you setup your latency: make sure your number is one of these:

64
128
256
512
1024, etc...

never set the latency to something different: other numbers than 2^x can make your CPU/soundcard crazy.

Re: Where is ableton 9? :(

Well, your username sums it up. I've shipped several software products from big name companies. The Abes are doing a fantastic job on almost all fronts. Feel free to switch; you'll be disappointed. Many things you guys assume are trivial are monumental tasks. The expectations on these guys are a tes...

Re: Korg Karma in a midi plugin

I played with one of the maroon karmas a while back and thought the arpeggios and generative stuff was interesting. I'd love to experiment with this type of thing and my MKS-80 and Voyager, but I'm already happy with my master keyboard and sounds. Can anyone suggest a plugin that might do something...

Re: SOUND ENGINE BUGS ???

Sweet Jehu. Vague complaints won't get you anywhere. Isolate a case where the sound gets worse, save the project, and report a bug. I can promise the Abes don't have time to follow red herrings. Give them a demonstrable case where the audio quality suffers due to an improper delay somewhere and they...

Re: Driving Live's meters into the red

I'm a software test engineer that has worked on a popular audio product. Live has a floating point mix engine(my product did too). That means a ridiculous amount of headroom when "internally" mixing. Basically, you don't have to worry about levels so long as you're not clipping an input or...

Replacing my Korg DVP-1 with Live's vocoder/pitch shifter

I love this DVP-1, but I'm trying to simplify and am hoping Live can do the trick. The DVP-1 is a vocoder/pitch shifter/harmonizer that has audio/midi input and some internal formant waveforms. I think I've figured out how to replace the vocoder function. I apply the vocoder to the vocal track and I...

Re: How to simulate an ABY pedal in Live

Interesting. I can honestly say I've never used a racks. Time to do some reading. My setup is insanely complicated and this might be a way to simplify. I'm using return tracks because I like the flexibility of sending synths to my guitar amps, but at this point; I need to move towards ease of use an...

Re: How to simulate an ABY pedal in Live

OMG. Thanks a bundle. I didn't even think of that. So.. to switch between the two amps, I just midi-map the same button to both tracks, and make sure they're in opposite states. Problem #1 solved(hopefully). #2 should be easy. I should be able to assign another button to one of the amps. Say the VOX...

How to simulate an ABY pedal in Live

I'm in a band and have a pretty complex setup where Live is at the center. I need to find a way to replicate an ABY pedal. I play guitar and I want one button to switch between a Mesa and Vox AC30 and I want another button which chooses the Mesa AND the Vox. http://www.morleypedals.com/daby.html Bas...

Re: Everyone else is 64 bit

While asking support about setting up a new computer I'm getting, I asked about this. I was told theyare programming in 64bit already, but even they don't know at this point if this will happen for Live 9, a couple months after or a couple months before as a Live 8 update. But it will happen and th...

Re: The (Un)Official Live Looping Thread

Hey catsandwich, I don't see any reason you couldn't run both guitar and synth to the same looper send track. The only real advantage I can think of would be stopping/starting guitar/synth parts individually or being able to set their Pan settings apart in a stereo set up. Unfortunately, I just got...

Re: The (Un)Official Live Looping Thread

I've decided to take the plunge into Live looping. My band's currently a 3 piece, guitar/keys(me), bass, and a drummer. We're planning on adding a singer, but want to nail some stuff down before adding another member. Gear: Macbook Pro 13" MOTU Ultralite Roland FC-200 + 6 extension switches Lau...
