iMac vs Mac Pro
It's about time to upgrade the cpu. My MacBook is a 2008 model, which means only 30 gigs of storage and not nearly enough RAM and processing power to handle all the VSTs and plugins that I want to use. I'm looking at new iMacs and Mac Pros. Mac Pro obviously has a lot more horsepower, but I'm wonder...

Re: cannot get sample to match bpm
ya this gets weird sometimes. after you hit warp, make sure the Segment BPM right below the warp button is set to what you want. somtimes, I change the project BPM to (in your case) 90, load the 90 bpm accapella, then change th project bpm back to 110. not the best fix but it works. another thing to...

"Track Volume is Awaiting Pickup" WEIRD
My Apc 40 is being weird. The volume faders only work part of the time, as of yesterday. Even on a blank set. I move the channel 2 fader on the APC40, and I get a yellow message at the bottom saying "2-MIDI |Mixer | Track Volume is awaiting pickup" and shows the values the fader is on. Som...

Weird issue w/ midi controllers
I am having a weird issue. I recently re-installed Ableton 8 and updated, to get a fresh start. My MIDI controllers aren't acting like MIDI controllers. Here's what's up: keyboard still plays notes, but I can't assign any MIDI functions to it. APC40 still does its thing well, except the mixer part h...

Re: Deleted presets, oops
I said presets, but I think what I meant was that I deleted the instruments and effects that came with Live 8. Synth basses, DJ & Performance Effects, Beat Repeat, etc.
I downloaded the Live 7 Legacy pack, is there a way to re-download the Live 8 instruments and effects?

Deleted presets, oops
So it's late.... mistakes have been made.
In trying to consolidate my Ableton files and library, I tanked my built-in Ableton Live 8 Instrument Rack presets. How can I get them back - download? System Restore?

One-shot samples
I recently got some one-shot samples of a pipe organ. The sounds are quite short. How can I make these sounds longer, so that the organ sounds sustain like a real organ?

Glidesynth Bass SQ
Angry When Sober
Arp Poly Lead
Ballister Field Bells
4 quick examples of presets that I've used in the past (as recently as 2 weeks ago) that are no longer working. Seems to be mainly the Synth Bass, Lead, Pad, and Chord presets that are giving me trouble.

Unresponsive instruments
Hello, I am having a problem with my built-in Ableton Live instruments. At least half of the instruments like Synth Leads, Synth Pads, Synth Strings etc, have recently stopped working. I drag them to a track, arm them and try to play (either with MIDI controllers or by drawing in notes) but get no s...

set up different templates?
Hi, I know you can design a startup template for ableton live, but is there a way to save multiple templates? not for startup, but just for general use. like a rock template, an electronic template, a DJ template, etc.

Apc40 knob speed
Hello, i am wanting to fine tune my apc40. I like to change the knob speed so that it takez more than one full revolution to change the value from 1 to 100 . Does this make sense? Its basially like changing gears on a bicycle, Is there a way to do this in ableton?

set up ableton like an mpc?
Hey friends, I am wondering how to set up Ableton Live to function similar to an MPC. A friend of mine is familiar with the MPC and I want him to feel comfortable making music. I know a little bit about MPC basics, but not that much. Does anyone have tips or tutorials for doing this? I have an APC40...
