Re: OSX Mavericks safe yet?

No problem with live and mavericks. Despite the fact that mavericks sucks. How so? Been nervous to update to mavericks since initially people were reporting it slower than mountain lion. I essentially have no good reason to update yet (wouldve stayed on snow leopard except I got a new lappy) but a ...

Re: Hints for Live 8 longevity - feature shortcuts and autosave!

No, everything Ive listed doesnt have a key combo by default in Live 8 with noway to assign it internally. Not sure of situation on windows but imagine the same. Usually support will recommend paid for hotkey programs for osx or as I also listed for windows - autohotkey for free. For osx, the system...

Live 8/9 Autosave app using applescipt, + general shortcuts

So I hotkeyed some features in Ableton I think help the longevity of Live 8 and hugely helped the speed of my workflow. I also made an autosave application for Live if anyone is interested. Im sure itll work on Live 9 as well with a little noodling. Not the most graceful of hacks, but for what it is...

Re: using TouchDAW to control Ableton

Yeah, to be honest, I would be a techy person, and it was all new to me! Still took a little while. You'll get there with a little patience, their instructions are good. Then the next hurdle - ALWAYS start things in the same order. Especially with live use. This goes for all of your equipment. Itll ...

Re: using TouchDAW to control Ableton

Blutooth isnt great for stable connectivity and latency as far as I remember - the single best thing I did with touchdaw is set it up over usb. - The connection is stable, and your device keeps power - you should def look into that. I know wireless has appeal initially - but yeah, then youve to lug ...

Re: Ableton, Bitwig etc - get your act together !

99.9% of the crashes I now experience in Live (still on 8) is down to wayward vsts or Aus. The most annoying one for me currently is the Valhalla Room Vst crashing, but after contacting the developer, the AU works fine instead. If you want to use your comp for professional use, you just have to be 1...

Re: HELPPPPPP!!! Midi keyboard stops sending midi?

Ive had this prob with a maudio axiom before. Basically - its definitely the usb port - its not supplying enough or consistent power to the keyboard. (It can also be affected by other things connected.) 3 things to try - Not all usb ports are equal on a laptop/computer. I know its true with macbooks...

Re: What's the best higher version above OSX 10.6.8 for Live

If its aint broke dont fix it is prob the best advice. Stability for musicians trumps technological advances. (whether theres any advances in the last 3 osx versions to justify a musician to move off 10.6.8 is up for debate). Also - in terms of project longevity, there is always the danger of updati...

Re: Epic Drum Racks Vol. 1 (free drum machine library/drum rack)

The simpler format edition is simply amazing. Thank you so much!! So delighted to finally play this! And even then, its waaaay beyond my expectations. One question - Im looking at the simpler racks - how is the FM done??! Is the fm 'hidden' in that its a feature from sampler that carries over? Im ex...

Re: Having a Ram/Crash issue if someone could help me out

cool. glad it makes sense... i was feeling less than articulate. if you have a user manual for your motherboard it should tell you exactly what configurations will work. if your computer was prefabbed... as in bought from Dell or HP (for example) then you'll just have to fiddle and reboot a few tim...

Re: Having a Ram/Crash issue if someone could help me out

RAM often has to go in in pairs... depending on the motherboard. so if you have mismatching sizes you will want to make sure that place you have added it makes sense. DIMMs(slots RAM is inserted into) often have labels like A1, A2, B1, B2 (for example on a motherboard with 4 DIMM slots). so if you ...

Re: Having a Ram/Crash issue if someone could help me out

It's your PC... You are saying that your project is about 1.4GB You are saying your system usage is about 2GB (I am not sure if that is with live running or not) You are saying you have 3GB installed But if you add 2GB + 1.4GB = 3.4GB which is more than you have installed. If you are shooting for l...

Having a Ram/Crash issue if someone could help me out

This is prob an archaic issue thats already been discussed and dealt with since Im still on Live 8, but if someone can help for 2 seconds... Im on windows 7 32bit, so Im opening a project I made previously on my old computer. Live is crashing with the 'out of memory error' when it registers about 1....
