I can't speak for anyone else, but it certainly wasn't my intention to criticise those who don't have English as their first language. Neither am I particularly bothered by the standard of grammar on a web forum. However, it's no surprise that standards of English are falling when you see the school...

My local pub even had an ad for a D'J. They just had to put an apostrophe somewhere! Surprisingly, an apostrophe is valid when talking about plurals of letters (see Fowler's Modern English Usage) e.g. "there are two p's in Mississippi". But this doesn't extend to DJs (or the 80s). Edit: An...

I think it went well, although it's all very informal - just drinks and Ableton-related chat amongst a few like-minded souls (and I do mean "a few"!) Lots of talk about controllerism and wondering whether we could start a London Warper night. Early days though. But seems people know people...

What the peak level of the master track? It should be less than 0db.

What's the resolution (bit depth) of your exported file? It should be as high as possible. Only convert to 16 bit (and dither) at the very last moment.

Depends how silent you want it to be. And how much money you have to spend... The general principle I'd recommend is to make your components as quiet as possible and not to rely on the case for silencing. My last desktop was almost totally silent despite being in a standard rackmount case. So I'd ge...

In hindsight I realised that while zone fades will work in some situations, they won't work for the "smart filter" I was trying to create - they'll effectively give it a much shallower slope.

So I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I think I have to do it with Sends. I use my Return track for effects but I vary which source tracks get sent to it (using the Sends).

mdk wrote:so you can use clip envelopes to control devices in a return
This would be good. Every time I create a return track I have to create another dummy audio track to contain dummy clips to control the effects in the return track - while the slots in the return track just sit there uselessly...

One way that you can do this natively in Live is with a whole heap of presets, i.e. up to 128 chains with a different preset on each - then all you're doing is switching chain. It's a bit laborious to set up though... I created a filter "smart knob" this way: 0-60 was a low pass filter; 61...

Been doing a lot of warping lately (and got lots more to do) and was just about to add a request for exactly this. But decided I should do a search for similar topics first... So a big +1 from me... Shouldn't be too difficult to add, should it? It's a shame it didn't make it into Live 7. So that's a...

I'm in the UK Ah well, in that case... I've got a laptop bag from Muji that has a handle, a shoulder strap, and backpack straps (and you can hide/remove the ones you're not using). It comes with a padded insert for your laptop - although the insert is not quite big enough for a 15.4" MBP (so I...

My Live 7.x wishlist (or why I haven't upgraded yet...)

When Live 5 was announced, I wasn't expecting to upgrade. Then at the last minute they added cross-fader curves (which was really important to me at the time). So I upgraded at once... When Live 6 was announced, I wasn't expecting to upgrade. Then I discovered that MIDI mapping a track via the playb...
