Re: Organizing plugins in Ableton Live 9
1. Make a folder called 'plugins' (or whatever) and put it in Places in the browser. 2. Put subfolders in that folder however you want to organize your plugins. 3. Open one of your plugins in live, set it to your favorite default settings, and then put it in a rack (ctrl/cmd-g when you have the plug...

Re: Separating sound design and melody/harmony "design"?
i agree and also disagree with the above, sound design is obviously very important, but i'm a composer by nature, i started learning guitar and piano before i even knew what a synth was... i think composing, melody, chord progression, is very very important, i mean its music right... its all intert...

accurate gain reduction indication on compressor
The GUI based feedback is nice, but I'd prefer if there was also a numerical value of gain reduction displayed with or over the graphical display.

Re: Separating sound design and melody/harmony "design"?
To me, sound design is as integral to composition in electronic music as harmony and melody. Presentation becomes so important... To the point where playing one simple note, through an amazing reverb and filter configuration can be incredibly impactful, yet compostionally 'boring'. So with that, I r...

I use color coding a lot in my sessions, and when track counts get large having frozen tracks spread through-out ruins the readability.

Re: Favorites - VST plugins
The functionality is already there, just in a different way. 1. Make a folder, and put it in the 'Places' section. Call it Effects... or instruments... or plugins. Whatever you want. Put as many subfolders in it as you want. Call them what you want. 2. Place your favorite plugins, with your favorite...

Larger sessions get pretty busy, it would be great to be able to add some focus.

Re: Macro control assignment that doesn't break patches
I don't remember ever seeing this in a change list for any updates. I wish the abes were a bit more vocal about their behind the scenes fixes. I've noticed they're slowly adding in things like 'editing start an end points of multiple clips at the same time'. I remember when that wasn't possible, the...

Color coding for folders in the browser
If I can do it here, why not there?
In all seriousness, that list of folders can get pretty intense. Anything to help organize it a bit more would help.

Macro control assignment that doesn't break patches
I'd really like to see some improvements here. Mainly in how the values get set when you assign a control in the macro map editor or in the midi map. I feel the default behaviour should be that the minimum value default to the current value that's set, rather than to it's absolute minimum. It's kind...

Gain handles on audio clips to go along with fade handles.
The data is already there (in the clip editor). I really feel it's finally time to include this in with the fade handles, and eliminate quite a bit of back and forth.

Re: Keeping Ableton in arrangement view for live gigs?
I also use midi-mapped markers in arrange occasionally as 'scenes'. That's handy sometimes, as they can quantize their triggering according to the global quantize.

Re: Keeping Ableton in arrangement view for live gigs?
I use both when I perform, and it's the best fit for my main project. My tunes adhere to pretty specific song structures, and for me, there is very little merit in jamming on them differently. So arrange runs a skeleton in the background (including all vocal FX, guitar amp/fx switching, electronic d...
