Re: Monome clip launcher
nice! I usually use the pages application for this kind of functionality but m4l enables great possibilities. It would be interesting if we could have a modular approach when implementing these patches so there would be a certain level of compatibility between m4l patches for the monome, for example...

Re: Monome clip launcher
Good job! Tested both the versions ("Monome Clip Launcher" and "wip2") and they work well on my monome :) I was able to crash max and live two times when testing, I think it's related to the edit mode of the max patch. I hope it will be more stable in the final release of max for...

[6099] Live crash when copying clips on Max device track
Live crashed repeatedly when I tried to copy and paste midi on the buffer shuffler channel. When I deleted buffer shuffler I was able to copy and paste midi on the channel. Other things I've noticed is that the graphics of the max4live patches gets unresponsive at times, and there is glitches in the...

Re: Who is using Snow Leopard with Live 8.05?
I also have problems with live sets that refuse to load, but eventually they open after several attempts. I have only used live 8 (8.0.4-5) in snow leo so I cannot say wether it's the operating system or live. Snow leo is a lot snappier than leopard though, when launching programs and stuff, especia...

Re: APC or Launch Pad?
monome! It's the real deal (in a multitude of aspects ;)), plus the 8x8 grid is not enough for my stuff at least, want to see everything that's going on. But actually I was near to buy an APC, but I do only see use for it on stage, 2 or 3 novation launchpads should be quite useful for studio product...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
Death to music? It's quite the opposite. What I mean is the possibility for the listener to enjoy the music at the sound level it was intended by the artist/producer, or if he wants to listen at another volume, he'll be able to enjoy it with the full spectrum then as well, by correcting for the huma...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
+1 Great idea about standardising the -14 dB bit. Problem is how do you regulate it? There are a lot of people making music at home pushing it hard. However there are not too many people making films at home that are getting public exposure in the same way without regulation. For those who just upl...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
Another aspect is that the mastering level also can influence the content, for example it's quite hard to build up a crescendo on the dance floor with a track that sounds 'maximal' from the beginning. I discussed this issue with a DJ friend lately, a lot of the modern techno tracks never really deli...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
Yep, I hope you're right, but when the most established artists (not talking mainstream here, but techno, electronica, idm, etc.) continue to deliver crappy releases you wonder, because those who sit there and master the tracks surely know what they're doing. I think it's more psychological factors ...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
I don't think it matters what kind of standard you choose, some people will always push against it as hard as they can. Even if you were to say releases can't be louder than -3dBFS (RMS or Peak), people will still squash things as much as they can against that ceiling. yup! and then you have the sa...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?

(the labels i deal with i always get to the point that i can choose the mas...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
...........ahhh nasty farty distortion - producers of the world sort it out. man don't get me even started on this... that was my first big discussion when i joined this forum, this whole mastering issue... tiring, very tiring, there are to easy available tools most people don't even remotely under...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?
Haha, but I mean there are standards for impedance and speakers and stuff, not so dramatic to have some sensible standard for the digital signal, it's far from optimal from an engineering point of view the way it behaves today. All movies are mastered at a calibrated level, we don't need to reinven...
