Re: PROMETHEUS

This review in Forbes seems fair-minded and offers a negative view of the whole thing: http://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddisalvo/2012/06/11/review-prometheus-is-a-visually-stunning-epic-failure/ While I disagree that Shaw is not on par with Ripley I do agree with many of the points made. I found my f...

Re: PROMETHEUS

The commonalities in Prometheus and Alien are the future history - Weyland and his industrial empire, the android series, and the terraforming operations. The Alien moon 'Acheron (LV-223)' is not the same as the Prometheus moon LV-422 or whatever they were numbered - I forget those sort of details. ...

Re: PROMETHEUS

I had just resurrected a very dim memory of an old science fiction short story - probably written in the 1950's or earlier - that had the beginnings of life as a theme. In this story, a scientists makes some sort of atomic rocket which when it takes off, ignites the world and destroys all life. The ...

Re: PROMETHEUS

To paraphrase Shaw -

This is so wrong: Madagascar 3 beats Prometheus at the box office

Re: PROMETHEUS

Speaking of gaffs... The scene where the big storm comes in seems unnecessarily melodramatic. I suppose it is a plot device to move the story on and get them out of the chamber. But preceding that was the scene where the murals starting shifting and Shaw says that they are affecting the atmosphere. ...

Re: PROMETHEUS

 Hey arachnaut, have you ever seen that book entitled The Book of Alien? It's available on Ebay usually for a good price. Fascinating look at the making of the film. http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Book-Of-Alien-1979-H-R-Giger-1st-printing-softbound-TPB-/190686963086?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=ite...

Re: PROMETHEUS

Wrong. Watch the movie again. He was lowered purposely into the hole via a tripod winch device. They discover the hole sitting 10ft away from the Space Jockey when Kane says "Hey Dallas, FUCK that dead giant alien and check out this fucking FANTASTIC HOLE. Yes you are right, re-watching it, it does...

Re: PROMETHEUS

Here's an interesting read on the movie... http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html#cutid1 That's very interesting. I made it a point not to follow any film trailers or fan sites until after I saw the movie. But now I can indulge. By the way, I got an advance ticket and was the first in the thea...

Re: PROMETHEUS

One more comment about Alien and then I'll drop it. I saw Exorcist in 1973 and it was the scariest movie I ever saw. I saw Alien in 1979 and it was similar. My wife went with me, but she ran out of the theater after the chest-burster scene and stayed shivering in the car while I finished watching it...

Re: PROMETHEUS

... That moment is treated almost as an afterthought. ... I strongly disagree. The space jockey set was built larger than life by Giger personally and must have cost a lot to make. Then they made 3 small space suits and put three kids in them to make the space jockey seem even bigger. So you will h...

Re: PROMETHEUS

....I mean, they're kind of intrigued and caught off guard...but for some reason would rather just go crawling down that hole in the floor. I mean.....wtf? The GIANT FUCKING DEAD ALIEN SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU ISN'T ENOUGH? Hey....this HOLE looks more interesting. ... That's not the way ...

... arachnaut, ditto on what syncretia said, can we still listen? ... http://www.arachnaut.net/audio/Live/2Weird2Win-AbletonBeatTheClock-Final-Headphone-Mix.wav It's big (96000kz, 32-bit) and mixed at night using headphones, so I don't recommend listening over loudspeakers. It might not stream well...

Re: Beat The Clock

I've never done this before, but I deleted my submission from this contest.

That will not improve anyone's chance in the slightest, so no cause to rejoice.

But this contest just rubs me the wrong way.

I wish every else the best of luck.
