Re: Ableton midi Keyboard controller like Push

Although a key-based version would be interesting, if you already have Push, why not just buy a more basic keyboard controller to pair it with? Kontrol seems like overkill unless you're using a lot of NI stuff and want their integration.

Re: Band Splitting for different FX on different bands

yes, you should have the slighty overlapping, otherwise you'll get some weird filtering stuff going on. As far as the slope, do it to taste - there are no set rules. I've always been confused about how much one should allow frequencies to bleed over when you are splitting sounds like this. I often ...

Re: Band Splitting for different FX on different bands

I'd just use an EQ/filter to split up the frequencies rather than the multiband dynamics device. Also, yes, you should have the slighty overlapping, otherwise you'll get some weird filtering stuff going on. As far as the slope, do it to taste - there are no set rules.

Re: Step Sequencer

Fair enough. You could probably find a slightly used, but still mint Push 2 for not much more than a new LP Pro + $100. You could also save by purchasing a secondhand Ableton license to allow for some more money for a controller. A Push 1 is also an affordable option. But anyhow, if you’re only look...

Re: Keyboard shortcut: why does command X override command C?

CMD + X is traditionally a "cut" function in computing. It doesn't delete an item so much as it removes it, stores it, and can then be pasted elsewhere.

Re: Step Sequencer

Any reason that you're not interested in a Push rather than a Launchpad Pro + something else that would end up doing things already possible with the Push? Just curious.

Yeah, accidentally overlooked that you specifically said "vst3", which unfortunately isn't supported (yet).

Re: cannot get plugins to show up

Did you check your preferences to make sure that Ableton is scanning for them?

Re: MIDI transpose from Push?

Not sure there's a way to do this, but you could just automate the on/off of the pitch effect for whatever clips you need transposed.

Have you checked the buffer size and that multicore is on?

Re: connecting hardware

What soundcard do you have? If it only has audio ins/outs and no MIDI ports, you'll need to purchase a MIDI interface to act as the bridge between your computer and the Make Noise device. From there, you'd just send the MIDI info from Ableton via the External Instrument device in Live (once everythi...

Re: Midi controller for Ableton Live

The Push 2 isn't really heavy, it's just a little weightier than your average controller because it's built more solidly and not made of plastic. I also wouldn't really consider it "big". Unless you have a huge need for keys, there isn't any better controller on the market than Push 2, IMO...
