Well, my thinking is that there is a feedback loop happening in Ableton which is not in ProTools...there must be something happening in Live which is not in PT anyway.

And if you just turn down the gain on the soundcard, what happens?

Do you have your speakers pointing toward your record player, or could the vibrations from your speakers be passing through the needle of your turntable?

Also, I'd think about reversing the order of things- ie, going soundcard to mixer to speakers, and sending 2 separate stereo outs back to Ableton- one for recording your final mix (from the booth output on your mixer) and one for an FX loop (from FX send). This way Ableton does not get involved when...

And why can't you just turn the gain down?

edit: I see you're getting feedback, thus you have an IO loop going somewhere in Live that does not exist in Protools. Troubleshoot your routing.

I think the best option is to "save live set as self contained" in the File menu.

I do a save as, rename the set something like: myset_complete.als, and then choose that option from the File menu.

Nina Simone- amazing. Somehow she strikes me in her relationship to jazz like Lou Reed is to rock- coming from a totally different place than her contemporaries, a really individual and special place of long suffering, outsiderness, raw intelligence, and the peace that comes from full self acceptance.

I did this last week by sampling some effected guitar just to get a droney warbley sound. Then I had the problem of not getting a smooth loop out of it, even with the "fade" switch in the clip options on. I think we tried modulating the volume envelope too, but that didn't work either. So ...

Any DJ, any PERFORMER, worth his salt knows his material and prepares. But, with all things, it comes down to a matter of preference. I get why Ableton is great, and why the APC 40 is all that, especially for a 'DJ' who wants to de/re-construct to the maximum potential. But what we are reacting to ...

Re: The question of Program Change in Ableton Live

Hello again everyone in-thread. Yes, this is my biggest pet peeve with my Ableton Love, and it's a huge one for me. The way "PC" is implemented in Love is great for DJs, but I am a musician, and NOT a DJ . . . Using program change to select clip slots seems so redundant given the beautifu...
