Main outs of MOTU (my sound card) into Line Ins 1&2 of the mixer. Main outs of the mixer to my monitors. I also have a Behringer Ultrafex pro in the effects loop for sweetening. I plug my headphones into the mixer's phone jack. I do all this simply because I can easily see and get to the volume....

I use a 402-VLZ3 (4x2) in between my MOTU 828mk2 and my HR824s, solely so I can get a decent volume knob, plus maybe a little EQ (no control surface here..). All recording is done through the interface.

OK, I'll play. I think the game is to name an early "a-ha!" moment.. For me it was walking home, noticing the expansion joints in the sidewalk occurred every 7 steps. Made for a nice odd meter cadence (ya, Ima drummer.) A walking metro object, if you will... I had a nice long stretch to go...
