First of all, there is no "main on/off". The control on Ableton top bar is only a quick access to the currently selected clip(s) scale awareness settings. It does nothing more than you can at the clip level. Is it useless ? Make your own opinion. Then, M4L API has access to root_note, scal...

Scale awareness of what device ?

You can create an audio track, set monitor to IN, set input source to match the FX chain, pre-mixer. And mute the FX chain.

Can’t you rename the track and save it as your default set ?

Yes.
The tricky part is to define the octave span. But mostly what’s the rule for spreading notes depending on how many notes per octave and also should their relative distance be kept on the PB, etc.

That’s bad bad bad and I never experienced this. Perhaps I was just lucky ?

That said there is a workaround, which is to use the M4L control surface. It’s a pain to use and somehow proves it’s a weird limitation.

Even with MPE we can’t address midi to specific channels. It’s a shame.

What if you switch the input source as none ?

Screenshot doesn’t show the bottom part of the screen but I bet there is an orange message saying that audio files couldn’t be open.
Search for them by clicking on the message.
Or collect and save the original set.
