Re: Does anyone know of a free batch file converter for mac?
That loss of quality doesn't come back when you convert it back to wav, the damage has already been done... you can't put back information once it's been taken away. Yeah, like I'm falling for that one... You'll be telling me that the Pro Tools mixer doesn't help 'gel' a mix together better than Lo...

Re: Does anyone know of a free batch file converter for mac?
Mind -> Blown. I'd never even thought about adding an extra .wav!! Don't be silly now. Everyone knows that the most important thing is that you convert your brick wall limited electronic tunes to AT LEAST 24 bit. It's just sonically better. Especially through the Beats by Dre 3.5" minijack on ...

Absolutely. iTunes has many faults, but it handles batch file conversion pretty well.the_planet wrote:iTunes. :p

To use them at all in Reason or Pro Tools for instance.tempus3r wrote:...why would someone want to convert mp3 to wav? Have too much hard drive space and need to fill it?
Most DAWs can't read compressed files in realtime. Ableton included from what I can gather!

Re: How do you make this sort of sound
... or you simply use the highly underestimated built-in VA-synth of Live called Analog  Built in to Suite of course, not Live. Or pay €99 for this instrument alone... although it is quite a good synth, this is silly money. Like most Ableton stuff these days, where a full Logic (and content) ...

Re: Magic sends not so magical anymore :/
'Scuse my ignorance, but why not just have one return on 100% wet signal? Because the amplitude of the dry signal in the overall mix doesn't lower in proportion to the amount you send to the return channel. When you want this behavior, you need to sum an inverted version of the dry signal along wit...

Re: Has anyone here ever taught an ableton class?
I don't want to sound harsh, but good teachers tend to put the prep in and make their own presentations. It makes for a much better learning experience generally. You'll feel much more confident singing from your own hymn sheet than from a stranger's, trust me. And you'll stand less chance of being ...

Re: How do you make this sort of sound
Delay Lama can, with a X/Y matrix I believe. How controllable this is via MIDI and automation, I can't recall. But it's free! Looks like Fruity Loops is the one for formants, though - FL is very popular for this kind of House. Definitely another weak link for Live... you shouldn't need to be Wiki'in...

Re: How to make "french bass guitar sound"?
It's the classic DX7 sound 'Bass 1' As heard clearly in Wish feat. Fonda Rae - 'Touch Me' from 1:10 onwards. Stock, Aitken & Waterman used it on everything - including Rick Astley. The Rick Rollin' craze probably means that more people worldwide have been exposed to this preset that any other in...

Re: how do i get natrual sounding " shakers"
ok, but for lots of people recording something is actually difficult. bad mics, bad preamps, no studio ... me for example, when recording acoustic guitar I will always get some traffic as I have a busy road in front of my window. So I often enough use the piezo pickup although I know that I theoret...

Re: How do you make this sort of sound
Very short! Hard to tell exactly, but you're right, it has a synthetic human quality. +1 on vocoder/talkbox. (-1 on the 'opinion' by the way. Tune bangs) It could be synth with a formant filter. Thor on Reason has one I believe. I don't know if you've ever used one, but they simulate human vowel sou...

Re: how do i get natrual sounding " shakers"
Sounds like a small tambourine/jingle stick actually recorded, dirtied up, and looped. Yeah, a tambourine, probably pitched down a bit - NO WARPING! Old Skool Stylee Tambourines cost a bit more to buy, but anyone serious about creating grooves should spend the 20 quid and have one lying around. Wel...

Re: how do i get natrual sounding " shakers"
Hold a shaker in your hand and shake it in front of a microphone. easy and simple. It's a sad sign of the dark side of the software revolution that it took a few replies to get to the correct one. People are so out of touch with the wonders of sound. Stick some rice in a small plastic container. Sh...

Re: don't worry, dubstep is now officially dead
Dubstep is going through the same process, culturally, as Emo a few years back. When everyone jumps on a scene for a couple of years, it reaches saturation point and there is a very swift backlash, and within a year no one will admit to have ever been a part of it. That is what is happening now. And...
