I don't see how automation being delayed would create phase problems...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

I just think it's important for people to really understand what's happening. I too hope that ableton adds compensation for automation and beat position effects at some point. (although understanding the problem allows me to work around it with only mild inconvenience) But i also want to make sure p...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

dude, sends compensate perfectly unless have them enabled to create feedback, a very handy and special use case that isn't even possible in most DAWS (does bitwig allow this? i am curious). No one is arguing that automation isn't compensated. But the audio phase problems you're claiming to have are ...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

Also sends, and tracks without using automation. You can hear it for example if you create a paralell chain in a rack, put an fx in one, and then do a crossover sweep to the other. Its clearly phazing because of latency. Just did my inversion test with parallel chains in a rack (3rd party fx on one...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

Yeah I use sends, I just disable sends on the return tracks if I want them to compensate. In terms of phase problems you're actually doing something wrong if that happens. That's not what the current problems with pdc are.

I guess I should mention I use 3rd party plugins too.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

I don't know about that but I think working with consistent settings start to finish is the way to go. And I also think it's best to use the highest sample rate that you can handle. Not for fidelity but for lower latency. 512 samples is obviously faster at a higher rate.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

That doesn't really sound like good practices are being used. Use one buffer size from start to finish, don't use sends on return tracks unless you are creating feedback and be smart about when you apply automation and you won't have any problems.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

Well buy a guitar with a humbucker or deal with the noise from your single coil. That's what I'm saying.

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

so now that people can buy bitwig, and that has *REAL* pdc, where's all this amazing music that was being held back by the shoddy programming at ableton? want a solution? record your automation instead of drawing it. or like, figure it the fuck out. guess what, making music is hard. for those of you...

when looking for lower latency, consider increasing the sample rate you're working at before deciding you need a new interface.....

Re: Is Ableton really a 'pro audio application' ?

also make sure to disable sends on the return tracks unless you are using them. having them enabled allows feedback matrices but prevents automatic time correction. If you wish to use feedback on your return tracks, i suggest using native live plug ins or plugs with very low latency.

Re: FINALLY ! Novations new controller !

https://store.djtechtools.com/products/midi-fighter-twister I bought two of these to augment my other controllers because there is such a serious lack of knobs on most controllers today. it's not quite 100% yet and there's been some issues with the newest firmware and editor that are still unresolve...

Re: Alternative to USB MIDI interface ?

there's a bunch of CV ins on the microbrute, right? You could use Expert Sleepers Silent Way to control them using your audio interface. The motu ultra light is ideal for this.
