is this a mix, a variation on a theme or an exact duplicate done in ableton vocals and all?

Only add more ram if you need it...watch your physical memory in task manager. I've got 6gig and never seem to go above 3...I've never seen live over 2gig in my setup.

The other thing to watch is disk I/O (disk speed can impact you here).

For my own stuff, I always seem to start in session view with a melody, sample or idea first...I get that into a clip(s), then quickly build out a beat or selection of beats that work with the idea/style and then hunt for other ideas (samples) or patches that might accompany the main "theme&quo...

Try this...take all your tracks down all the way and removing all compression eq etc. Then bring the primary sample you want to punch through your mix (usually the kick) up to about -6db. Don't take it up to 0db. Then bring each remaining sample up in turn, in priority order, while listening through...

I also have seen an issue with vst settings not getting preserved when you reopen the vst. it'll be playing a modified bank/preset, then when I reopen to modify, it gets reset to some other preset. Just noticed this...if you've worked on a set, closed ableton then reopen, that set is not saved in the resents list.

this issue has been around for quite a while (at least 8 months). The only solution I've found is to wait until what ever is holding on to the process (some speculation that it's the audio interface driver) lets go. killprocess does not even work. If someone has a solution or at least a work around ...
