Try to repair OS X with the install Cd,
you need to hold a key while booting and start from the CD,
then there should be a possibility to repair OS X.

Check first on the different websites what you need to uninstall manually, I think especially smc or coolbook writes some stuff while installing you need to delete manually, it acts at higher level in the os as fancontrol itself. crappy buggy driver from m-audio.
It has even the worst latency I've seen.
Send a bug report to the m-audio support,
perhaps they can fix something.
