Re: What is the point in warping?
way better off warping the tracks, Live discriminates against unwarped tracks- you lose the ability to do tons of commands on a track that is not warped. 4x4 tracks should take no longer than 10 seconds to warp properly. Here is a quick approach on warping a full track. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Training; Your Thoughts
I've been teaching Live and Music production in general for about 5 or so years now and I can assure you that It will definitely get you there waaaaaaay quicker. You can def get there without hiring a teacher but will take a bit longer. Obviously this is only helpful if you are doing lessons with so...

Re: Downsides to "force quitting" Live
Thanks for the replies. @H20- yeah, its def ridiculous that i have to do it that way- honestly, but it saves me a couple minutes, Live 9 seriously takes forever to save and close a set. Sometimes I have to open and close a bunch of sets to grab pieces from them. I know I could open a set from the br...

Re: Choosing a stage name
Look pick whatever you want. unique is good. couple suggestions though - pick something unique so it is searchable. ie dont pick something like "pentagon" for a name...as people will search it and i guarantee your music will not come up first. don't use any current trends, unless you don't...

Downsides to "force quitting" Live
How it goes? Seems like Live 9 takes ages to close a set and load up a new one - Basically switching from one .als to another. So, I tried saving the set and "force quitting" Live from OS X. Then reopening Live and loading up the new set. Way quicker as one thing I found about Live 9 is it...

Re: Opening .alp or .adg from version 9.x in version 8.x
If you open the .adg files up in a text editor u will see that the Live 8 version has a line at the top - something like <Ableton MajorVersion="4" MinorVersion="8.1_226" SchemaChangeCount="10" Creator="Ableton Live 8.3"> the Live 9 version will have somthing l...

Re: Audio Quality with Maschine as a vst.
Im guessing your on live 9? I'd def say up your buffer quite a bit to 256 or so. I know for me, when using 9, i have to have a latger buffer than v8.

Re: How should I record a DJ-set?
Give it a try. U should be fine either way- multitrack recording in Live, global record, or just resample the master channel directly into Live. I dont really use Live much anymore for performing/sets but used to record my stuff all the time and never had any problems. Just make sure your not going ...

Re: delay compensation work around?
You should try to get your buffer down as low as possible. Also, What plugins are you using? In live 9, for each plugin you add, it will add a buffers worth of latency, so, your buffer being 512 samples, each plugin in ur set adds 512 samples of latency to ur set. So you can see that with just a fe...

Re: Fabfilter ProQ and Saturn vs EQ8 and Lives Sat/Dist
Saturn is amazing. Its a totally different distortion than ohmicide its alot more subtle but can do some over the top stuff ok. Sure u can make some crazy multiband distortions w racks n splitters but saturn makes it so easy to do the same thing, plus u basically get a 4 band eq per band(split). Thi...

Yeah, thats how it is. One of the reasons i don't use the mfl control signal stuff. More hassle than its worth imo. Would be cool to get some native ableton LFOs,envelope followers...

Ive gotten used to alot of the awkward changes in Live 9. Still can't stand the single click automation and all of its consequences. Ridiculous that there is no option for this.

Re: Plugin for Formant Shifting
My favorite is the reason thingie - Neptune. that thing is just bananas. Such a shame that it's so cumbersome to pipe audio from Live to reason. Izotope Nectar has a nice formant shifter if you don't want to go the ilok route w autotune. Also, someone did make an autotune thingie for MFL if your int...
