what are you hoping to do with it that you can't do?
You need to enable midi input in your midi interface. And if you want to play a Live drum rack, well, live, you need to set the monitoring correctly (if auto, channel must be in record mode to monitor live playing, etc.).

it's a bit confusing. but each sampler can only contain one multisample? at least the way the term 'multisample' is usually used. they do show a rack of two samplers on the second page too, so maybe that's what they meant.

The manual isn't clear, but usually it is per instrument, not per layer.

However... given that this is Live, you could easily do what you want with racks + 2 samplers in the rack, both driven by the midi sequence. That would give you full layering of everything.

Is there a device that can remap a bunch of midi notes into another? I'd like to do something like remap VDrums to Imap or GM, for instance. SM7 != SM57. Maybe that's the confusion. I would not prefer to use a 57 for vocals, though it's possible. An SM7 is a good choice.

It's there... use CC4, there actually are samples for a full range between open/closed.
