Re: Some MIDI Effects Racks for Superior Drummer 2.0
very cool. I think I might make something similar for iMap. I don't have superior drummer, I have some oceanway kits, but the same concepts would apply to both.

Re: Anybody use a Variax?
depends on how good you are as a guitarist, maybe. i'm not a very good guitarist (yet) and the variax has been GREAT. I can get somewhat close to just about anybody's tone, which is great when trying to copy their parts. I have one guitar that I can switch between acoustic and electric. The acoustic...

Re: Tips for using SPD-S with Live?
what are you hoping to do with it that you can't do?
You need to enable midi input in your midi interface. And if you want to play a Live drum rack, well, live, you need to set the monitoring correctly (if auto, channel must be in record mode to monitor live playing, etc.).

Re: Ableton Sampler
it's a bit confusing. but each sampler can only contain one multisample? at least the way the term 'multisample' is usually used. they do show a rack of two samplers on the second page too, so maybe that's what they meant.

Re: Adding tones together...
Hi, I'm looking at the effects of adding tones together to try and improve my background knowlege about tones etc... I'm using Audacity for this; all generated waveforms have the same phase. - Channel 1: Generated a fixed frequency SINE tone at 100Hz - Channel 2: Generated a fixed frequency SINE to...

Re: Ableton Sampler
The manual isn't clear, but usually it is per instrument, not per layer.
However... given that this is Live, you could easily do what you want with racks + 2 samplers in the rack, both driven by the midi sequence. That would give you full layering of everything.

Re: session drums stuff
hmm, this didn't go through the first time? try again. couldn't post these here, but could on another site i'm on. So try this: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/458352-ableton-live-nanopad-drum-tools.html Couple of drum remappers using MIDI device racks (IMap to GM/Session Drums, and t...

Re: Remap midi notes in ableton live?
Yeah, I think I figured it out..... might take a lot of midi pitch devices, but I've got 6-7 done so far and it appears to be doing what I want. Thanks!

Remap midi notes in ableton live?
Is there a device that can remap a bunch of midi notes into another? I'd like to do something like remap VDrums to Imap or GM, for instance. It appears there are some VSTis that can do it, but dropping them onto a track replaces the device that exists. I can do this as a workaround, having multiple ...

Re: session drums stuff
Found an interesting video, didn't even know Ableton had a youtube channel! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjqlBOtgNU4&feature=player_embedded One interesting thing on here is that it doesn't match my Session Drums. You can see on the page that there are presets called things like Snare-CopStyle...

Re: session drums stuff
yeah, they definitely are the same. (the plastic vs. stick thing). Anyways, I've gotten through a first shot. It is in an excel spreadsheet, so you can do filtering etc. Not that helpful yet but it's something. I haven't gone through the multimic kits. Can you attach files in here? Otherwise, i'll f...

Re: session drums stuff
More bizarre things about session drums: Went through assuming that the Lite kits (say, AmbientPunchLoudLite vs. AmbientPunchLoud) were exactly the same, just 16 bits instead of 24 bits. They are not even close to the same thing - the Lite kits do not include the cymbal FX, snare press etc. (underst...

Re: Percussive hit -> MIDI note function or plug-in
you want KTDrumTrigger, I think: http://koen.smartelectronix.com/KTDrumTrigger/ for a free option. he actually has a picture of this exact sort of experiment on that page... dunno what the latency is, but key is, that it's not doing traditional pitch to midi - it's only a trigger, which is a lot fas...

Re: assist me in choosing a condenser.
SM7 != SM57. Maybe that's the confusion. I would not prefer to use a 57 for vocals, though it's possible. An SM7 is a good choice.
