here's my testing and successful temp config
G4 1ghz TiBk, 1G ram, OS9.2.2, sound manager (til i get back to studio and motu 828). evolution mk461c usb midi keys. reason 2.5, L4, metasynth, peak, hyperprism, pluggo, lyre 2.8, spongefork 1.07

errrr... i think i was thinking vertically about the consolidate function - as in - ableton would consolidate all the tracks i had selected Vertically, not a range of clips just on one track....
