Mix two stereo tracks together at unity gain, no plugs no pans no nothing. Do this in both Pro Tools and Ableton. Now invert the phase of one of the mixes. Import both mixes into Pro Tools or Ableton, line them up and then phase cancel them ( start out with the volume slider of one at unity gain and...

paws (if I may refer to him as that) You may. meaning of the english language as dictated by the scholars who have... coined it. They don't coin words at Oxford. They go through what's been written in English and look how old words are being used and which new words have entered the language. I cou...

Dude, I think you are missing the point of what sampling is. Licensed or unlicensed, sampling is the art of taking material that someone else in all liklyhood recorded , and using it to make new music. It's all implied in the word sampling. Does anyone out there, think that sampling means something...

I love my MboxII. I get really low latency, superb sound, 2 direct/instrument ins (works great for bass and guitar if you have some modeling software like Guitar Rig 2) travels well, and has outstanding sounding preamps from focusrite. Very low noise A/D conversion. However, the thing with Mbox is t...

take a few of your instruments and psuedo stereo them. There's a bunch of different ways from chorus (more voices + modulated detune) unison (morevoices + unmodulated detune), slight delay the one channel relative to another etc... something I like doing is duping the track, and then sending it thro...

I work with this black dude who also happens to be a 26 year old virgin. I swear to god I've seen him visually blush. Oh, and Nebulae, you used the term "colored" emoticons. This is a derogatory term. I don't know what the politically correct term is, so for the time being, you can keep using the wo...

Fuck the beatles. I work in a music shop in the tech section. Every day, some asshole who is looking at hard disk recorders will come up to me and say "y'know, the beatles did Sgt. Pepper on a four track". Yeah? Great. Why don't you go use a four track. Why don't you go base your whole studio on a ...

I love it. The real reason I'm there is to provided tech service and help large ticket customers put together full rigs including instalation (for which I charge a separate fee). I'm in constant touch with the regional reps and I like that. I stick in the Keys and recording section, so when it's slo...
