Re: software modular systems

I'm a big fan of uHe's Bazille. It can carry a substantial CPU load when heavily patched and using multiple voices but it was a great help to me learning modular synthesis before I ever bought a module. More than that it is like a fantasy modular phase modulation synth. Building it and using it in r...

Re: Latency compensation - rule of thumb for ableton

As much as I hate having to use the delay function in Live I also love it because it allows me to get creative with rhythm and timing in my tracks. It can be annoying at times to dial in that perfect timing but on the other hand it allows for the swing that made much of electonic music what it is to...

Re: How to choose a key when you compose a song ?

I like to just noodle around. I'll find a few notes that make a cool riff or chord or baseline and then exclude the notes in the octave that don't make sense with what I came up with. This establishes the key I'm working in.

Re: OSCiLLOT

Just popping in to say that I'm super glad I invested in this little project! Need to update and see what's new but I'm happy to share that this little wonder has been great for integrating with my analogue modular system via an Expert Sleepers Es-3 (you could use an es-8 as well.) My only request w...

If Live is able to record your keystrokes then you are sending MIDI.

Re: Suggestions for expanding RME Babyface

I'm entered to win! Just found the ADI-8 by RME and a used one could be a decent solution. Also found these nodded Behringer ADA8000's by Revive Audio that are probably the best bang for buck solution.

You can build a nice emulation in operator. Some youtube videos will get you halfway there.

Suggestions for expanding RME Babyface

Hey guys. Looking to add some more inputs and outputs to my RME via ADAT for plugging in mainly synths however the RME offering (Octo-something) is a bit on the expensive side for me right now. The Art TubeOpto8 seems like a cool option. What are you guys on a budget using to plug in your synths and...

Re: My master was clipping, ajusted levels and lost mix balance

I have to second the suggestion for an audio interface/preamp as I was having the same problem as yourself before I invested in one. Not only is it going to boost your levels but it's going to warm up the sound a bit, giving you a better idea of what things are going to sound like on most systems (s...

Re: Best way to get to know modular synthesis

^^^ What he said.

I learned my way around modular environments using bazille and it looks like what you'll be using as opposed to reaktor or oscillot.

Re: Push 2 vs. APC40 MKII and others

Great responses, thanks guys. Basically what I had already feared from the way my Push 1 is focused but at least I'll have a nice new toy to play with. Those faders will be essential now that I think about it. The Jam is awfully tempting, I could really use all that free software. Just wish it had s...
